Hot Water Faster

-  By installing this 3/8″ water line, I’ve cut the wait time from 45 seconds down to 10 seconds.  The hot water line that feeds my kitchen sink consists of 17′ of 3/4″ tubing, then another 25′ of 1/2″ tubing. All I did was install a dedicated 3/8″ water supply line from the water piping coming off the top of my water heater to the kitchen sink faucet.   I’ve cut the total run down to about 25′ by running the line straight to my faucet.  The other reason this works is because a 3/8″ tube has about 25% of the volume as a 3/4″ tube. .   Part of the reason I get hot water so much faster is that the hot water doesn’t need to fill up all of the main ‘branch’ lines to get to my kitchen faucet ..More

Superior Kitchen Faucets at Plumbing Supply Stores?

- . The plumber goes on to explain that the faucets provided by a plumbing supply store are superior; while they may look identical, the ‘guts’ of the same faucet are of a higher quality when they come from the plumbing supply store, and less prone to failure.  For this reason, the plumber will only warrant the faucet that comes from the plumbing supply store, for a much higher price ..More

Are ‘Hot Roofs’ allowed in Minnesota?

- . Are they really hot?  No, just slightly warmer.  This has the potential of reducing the shingle life by up to 10%.   Studies have shown that color differences in shingles will actually have a larger impact on the temperature of shingles than the difference between a ventilated and a spray-foamed roof.   A ‘hot’ roof will typically only be a couple of degrees warmer than a ventilated roof ..More
